Rita E. (Fitzgerald) Malone Obituary

Rita E. (Fitzgerald) Malone, 101, died on Wednesday September 17, at Blackstone Valley Health and Rehab Center. She is survived by her granddaughter Tara Sujko and her husband Michael Blain and their children Brayden, Griffin and Lochlan, all of Boylston, and three additional grandchildren: Kelly, Thomas, and Caitlin.

Born on July 9, 1924, in East Boston, she was the oldest of ten children born to the late John and Agnes (Barker) Fitzgerald. She grew up in East Boston and attended the former Fitton High School. In 1946 she married her late husband, Thomas J. Malone Jr., who passed in 1986. Together they raised their children in East Boston; Thomas J. Malone III, Diane Malone and Paula Malone, all of whom predeceased her. Rita lived in East Boston until her move to Blackstone Valley Health and Rehab in Whitinsville, MA.

Rita was an avid bingo player, enjoyed crocheting and reading, was an amazing cook, liked camping trips with her brother, and especially loved spending time with her family and friends. During Thanksgiving, Rita's love for cooking and her kind heart led her to prepare numerous dinners for those less fortunate. Her generous and loving spirit will be missed by all those who knew her.

Per Rita's wishes, there will be no memorial services.
