Robert DeYoung, 81, died at home, Tuesday, July 21. His wife, Beverly (Fletcher) DeYoung, died in 2004. He is survived by a son, Scott J. DeYoung, with whom he lived; a daughter, Michelle Tyler, and her husband, Clayton, of Charlton; two granddaughters, Lauren and Kaitlyn Chase; a brother, John DeYoung, of Whitinsville; three sisters, Eleanor Valeriani, of Whitinsville, Carol Gilman, of Woonsocket, RI, and Linda Remillard, of Northbridge. He was predeceased by his brother, William, and sisters, Judith Socha, and AnnMarie DeYoung.
Mr. DeYoung was born in Uxbridge, February 24, 1939, a son of William and Elizabeth (Yerka) DeYoung. He grew up in Uxbridge and lived many years in Whitinsville. He was a 1957 graduate of Uxbridge High School, and he was a veteran of the United States Air Force.
A Machinist, Robert worked at Smith Valve, and also at Cooper-Cameron, in Millbury, before retiring.
He was a member of Saint Patrick's Church in Whitinsville. A "jack of all trades", Robert enjoyed woodworking, coin collecting, golf and kayaking.
A graveside funeral service will be held at 10am, Saturday, July 25, in Saint Mary's Cemetery, Uxbridge. Calling Hours will be 6-8pm, Friday, July 24, in the Carr Funeral Home, 24 Hill Street, Whitinsville. Face coverings are required and social distancing protocols will be followed.
