Timothy J. Newton, age 72, died at home Thursday, May 8, 2025. He leaves his loving wife of 46 years Maryann (Mansfield) Newton, a son Andrew Newton and his wife Elizabeth, of Paxton, a daughter Amy Mason and her husband Richard, of Norton; three sisters: Kate Anthony, of Florida; Maryanne Havalotti, of Douglas; and Patricia Buma and her husband Paul, of Douglas.  In addition, he leaves eight grandchildren whom he adored: Jacob and Matthew Newton; Abbie, Ellie and Emily Mason; Logan and Liam Kestenbaum and Benjamin Mason.

Tim was born April 21, 1953, in Fall River, to Francis and Florence (Witkowicz) Newton. When he was an infant, his family moved briefly to Haringa Avenue in Whitinsville before moving to Goldthwaite Road where Tim lived most of his life. He was a graduate of Northbridge High School and Fitchburg State College, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English.

In 2020 Tim retired from the Postal Service after a 29-year career as a mail handler at the Shrewsbury Distribution Center.   He liked playing cards, chess, golf and doing his crossword puzzles.  He was an avid sports fan who enjoyed watching the Patriots, Celtics, Bruins and the New York Yankees!

Spending time with his children and grandchildren was his greatest joy.
