Veronica F. (Calland) Hearon Obituary

Veronica Frances (Calland) Hearon died at home Sunday, December 22, 2024.  She leaves her loving husband of 38 years, Mark Hearon, her daughter Mackayla Hearon both of Northbridge, MA; her daughter Alyson Hearon of Auburn, MA; her son Dylan Hearon, her grandson Michael Farrell both of Northbridge, MA; her mother Geraldine (Kingston) Calland, and two sisters, Lorna Maloney and Melissa Calland, all of Naples, FL.  Veronica was predeceased by her father Philip Calland, her brother James Calland, and her infant son, Connor.

Born in Boston on May 17, 1962, Veronica grew up in East Bridgewater until her family moved to Framingham when she was a teenager.  It was there that she graduated from high school and met her future husband, Mark.  Veronica and Mark moved their growing family to Northbridge in 1990, where they would build a full and joyful life together.

Veronica was known by her family and many friends by her big bursting laugh, her generous heart, and her deep and fierce love for her family.  Her resilience and easy sense of humor provided comfort and support to countless people and enabled her to persevere during the challenging times in her life.  Veronica laughed when she felt like crying and unintentionally taught others to do the same.  An amazing storyteller, a willing dance partner, and someone who was always up for an adventure, she brought joy and so much fun into the lives of others.

If Veronica had any flaws, it was her inability to say no to anyone – or any animal – in need of love, comfort, or just a hug.  Over the years, her family lost count of the weekends or holidays they would find an extra person no one knew at the dinner table, while Veronica seamlessly made room and extra food, despite the rebuttals from her husband, who affectionately referred to her as Edith in such moments.  She welcomed the numerous stray and rescue animals her children brought home, and while she outwardly protested another responsibility in the house, she could be found cuddling the new additions almost instantly.  Her family and friends will miss her brightness of spirit, her laugh, and her legendary mashed potatoes.

Veronica was an adoring wife, a loving and patient mom, an exceptional nana, a caring daughter, the fun sister, and a wonderful aunt.  When she wasn’t with her family, she spent her days as a medical assistant at a cardiology practice in Milford, where she spent the last 20 years.  She was incredibly dedicated to her patients and loved her coworkers.

Memorial Calling Hours will be on Thursday, January 2 from 5-7pm.  Burial will be held privately at the family’s convenience.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Veronica’s memory to Bullied Breeds rescue, PO Box 225 Nutting Lake, MA 01865.
