Virginia (Megerdichian) Leighton Obituary
Whitinsville--Virginia (Megerdichian) Leighton, 91, died Wednesday, May 13, in the Saint Camillus Health Center. She is survived by her daughter, Joanne Knapik, of South Paris, Maine; a brother, Harry Megerdichian, and his wife, Norma, of Dedham; a sister, Mary Bradford, and her husband, Michael, of Upton; two grandsons, Alan J. Knapik, Jr., and Eric J. Knapik, two great grandsons, Charles and Robert, and several nieces and nephews .She was predeceased by a son, Kenneth P. Peloquin, and a brother, Stephen Megerdichian.
Mrs. Leighton was born in Detroit, Michigan, a daughter of John and Takouyi (Ovian) Megerdichian. She moved to Whitinsville at the age of five. She grew up here and attended Northbridge schools.
She was an assembler at Data General for many years, and previously was a switchboard operator for the telephone company.
Mrs. Leighton was a member of the Soorp Asdvadzadzin Armenian Apostolic Church in Whitinsville. She was a voracious reader, a wonderful cook. She enjoyed swimming, tennis, badminton and ceramics., and she loved being with her family.
The family would like to thank the staff at Saint Camillus for the wonderful care they provided Virginia.
A Celebration of Mrs. Leighton's life will be held at a date to be announced. Memorial donations are requested to the Whitinsville Armenian Apostolic Church, 315 Church Street, Whitinsville, MA, 01588.
