William Ashe Obituary

William (Bill) Ashe passed from this life in the company of his family, Monday, March 8, after a long struggle with Parkinson's disease. He leaves his devoted wife, Bonnie Leonard Ashe, daughter, Kate, and her husband, Steve Dickinson, of Southwick, MA., and his son, Thomas, and his wife, Natasha Falke, of Pocasset, MA. He leaves his beloved grandchildren, Magnolia and Kendall Rose Dickinson. He valued his children, grandchildren, and his beloved wife beyond measure. He also leaves his brother-in-law, John Leonard and his wife, Maryann, of ME, and brother-in-law, Jon Minard and his late wife, Dawn, of CT. He also leaves his nephews, Jay McGuire, of CA, and  Colin Leonard, of GA., and his nieces, Kelly and Amy McGuire, of CT, as well as five great nephews and five great nieces. He was an only child, but was blessed with the friendship of his brothers-of- the- heart, Ed Franasiak and Bob Baird, of CA, and Bob Wheeler, of Dracut.

Bill was born in Buffalo, New York, and grew up in Worcester. He has been a long-time resident of Whitinsville, raising a family, and creating a beautiful life. He graduated from South High in Worcester, and from the great Boston College, in 1963. He earned the high honor of Eagle Scout, and proudly served in the Army National Guard.

Bill began his career at General  Motors in Framingham, and went on to the positions of Fiscal Director of the House of Affirmation, Comptroller for the Jewish Federation of Worcester, and he had a private accounting practice where he enjoyed spending time and creating relationships with his clients. In the early years of living in Whitinsville, he loved his time as a volunteer firefighter.

Bill had a wry sense of humor, and was very proud of his Irish heritage. He enjoyed wood working, reading, history, old movies, 50's rock and roll, all kinds of trains, attending PawSox games, cheering on Boston College football and basketball teams, and spending time with his dear family and friends. He enjoyed sailing at Cape Cod, and a good clam dinner at the Lobster Pot. His dogs, Bisquit, Peanut, and Winston were his devoted companions, and gave him much joy.

Although he  lived 79 long years, he left us too soon, creating a hole in the fabric of our family. We will celebrate him in our memories, and in how we live our lives.

Due to the current pandemic, there are no services scheduled for Bill at this time. When conditions improve, we will all gather to celebrate this wonderful man's life together.

In lieu of flowers, we encourage a donation to the MSPCA, a local animal rescue, or another charity close to your heart.
