William J. DeLang

William J. DeLang, 80, passed away Wednesday, January 12, at UMASS Memorial Medical Center after a period of declining health.  Bill leaves three sons: Scott DeLang and his wife Kristen, of Millbury, Steven DeLang and his wife Amy, of Webster, and Shawn DeLang, of Sacramento, CA; a brother Kenneth DeLang and his wife Donna, of Whitinsville, his sister-in-law Virginia Gilmore, of Uxbridge and two granddaughters, Kaileigh and Giulianna.  Bill was predeceased in 2014 by his wife of 45 years, Linda A. (LeClaire) DeLang and by a brother, John DeLang.

Born September 3, 1941, in Northbridge, Bill was a son of John and Ruth (Meers) DeLang.  He was raised in Uxbridge, graduated from Uxbridge High School and lived his entire life in the area.  He was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force.   While working at National Cash Register in the late 70's-early 80's, Bill also worked as a part-time Uxbridge Police officer.  After leaving NCR and the police force, Bill worked as a field technician at IBM for many years before retiring.

Bill enjoyed riding his Harley, following NASCAR and New England sports teams, especially the Patriots and Red Sox.  He was an avid vegetable gardener, enjoyed hunting and candlepin bowling.  He especially loved his dog, Lexi.

Calling hours, at Carr Funeral Home, will be Thursday, January 20, from 6-8PM. Bill's funeral, at the funeral home, will be Friday, January 21, at 10AM.  Burial will follow in Lakeview Cemetery, Upton.
