TOLLAND, CT ... William C. Hayes, 78, died Wednesday, December 30, following a period of declining health. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Mary (Victoria) Hayes; two sons, William  F. Hayes, and his wife, Rie, of Pompano Beach, FL; Joseph M. Hayes, and his wife Tara, of Logan Township, NJ; a daughter, Victoria A. Graves, and her husband, Derek, of Hopkinton, MA; two sisters, Barbara LeClaire, and her husband, Leo, of Medfield, MA, and Jo-Anne Carr, and her husband, Douglas, of Whitinsville, MA; and four grandchildren, Jackson, William, Joseph, and Annabelle Hayes.
Bill was born in Milford, May 18, 1937, the son of William F. and Marion (Messier) Hayes. He grew up in Uxbridge, and graduated from Uxbridge High School in 1956, where he was a standout three sport athlete. He was a graduate of Bates College, earned two Master's Degrees at Northeastern University, and he did additional graduate study at Rhode Island College.
He was a sales and management specialist in the computer software industry for 43 years, prior to retiring a year ago. Previously, he was a teacher and coach at Uxbridge High School, Algonquin Regional High School, and Assistant Principal at Suffield, CT. High School.
Bill was a member of Saint Matthews Church in Tolland. He was a member of the Uxbridge High School Athletic Hall of Fame, and was voted to the All Maine football team during his years at Bates.
Bill's Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 AM, Monday, January 4, in Saint Mary's Church, Uxbridge, MA. Burial will follow in Saint Mary's Cemetery. Calling Hours will be 3-5 PM, Sunday, January 3, in the Carr Funeral Home, 24 Hill Street, Whitinsville, MA. Please omit flowers.
