William Robert Roy, 71, died Monday July 8, 2024, at UMass University Campus in Worcester after a brief illness. He is survived by his son Jonathan Roy and his wife Cristine, of Harvard, his daughter Meagan Roy and her partner Thomas Moore, of Oxford; two grandchildren, Jacob and Clementine; and two brothers, James and Thomas Roy, both of Venice, Florida. William was predeceased by his brother Clarence (Popeye) Roy Jr. in 1973. He also leaves behind his former wives and good friends Susan and Michelle.
Born in Northbridge on January 30, 1953, he was the son of the late Clarence Sr. and Julia (Blair) Roy and had lived in Northbridge all of his life. William was a graduate of Blackstone Valley Tech in Upton. He worked as a HVAC technician for 30 years at J.J. Bafaro in Worcester and was self-employed in his trade for many years. His love of cooking and entrepreneurial spirit led him to open the Valley Cafe in Whitinsville. Billy had a passion for the outdoors and enjoyed fishing, skiing, and the beach. He was an avid Patriots fan who had a love for animals, cars, motorcycles and spending time with family and friends. He was a loving father and grandfather who will be remembered for his thoughtfulness, sense of humor, and ability to always put family first. He will be missed by all who knew him.
Calling Hours from 9:30-11AM will be Wednesday, July 17, 2024, followed by a graveside service at Saint Patrick's Cemetery at 11:30. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the MSPCA-Angell fund, Attn: Donations, 350 South Huntington Ave., Boston, MA 02130.
