NORTHBRIDGE ... Moses G. Arakelian, 89, died Friday, June 17, in the Milford Regional Medical Center. His wife, Akabi (Mooradian) Arakelian died in 1971. He is survived by a son, David A. Arakelian, and his wife, Elizabeth, of Coeur d'Alene, ID; a daughter, Susan Martin, and her husband, Dale, of East Lyme,CT; a brother, Paul Arakelian, of Whitinsville; a sister, Mary Berberian, of Northborough; and three grandchildren, Deborah Arakelian, Nathan Arakelian, and Alison Martin. He was predeceased by a brother, Archie, and a sister, Lucy Kanarian.
Mr. Arakelian was born in Whitinsville, April 5, 1927, a son of Serop and Nectar (Berijikian) Arakelian. He grew up in Whitinsville, and lived in Uxbridge more than 50 years before returning to Northbridge several years ago. He was a 1945 graduate of Northbridge High School.
A United States Navy veteran of World War II, Mr. Arakelian was a USPS letter carrier in Whitinsville for 36 years, retiring in 1984.
He was an active member of the 1st Evangelical Congregational Church in Uxbridge, and a Mason. He enjoyed walking and bowling. Moses will be remembered as having a wonderful sense of humor and unwavering spirit and optimism; a man who loved life and his family.
Mr. Arakelian's Funeral Service will be held at 11AM, Friday, July 8, in the 1st Evangelical Congregational Church, followed by burial in Pine Grove Cemetery, Whitinsville. Calling Hours will be 9-10:30 AM, Friday, July 8, in the Carr Funeral Home, 24 Hill Street, Whitinsville.
