Northbridge- Diane M. Gaudette, 71, died Thursday, February 23, after a battle with cancer.  She was predeceased by her husband of 28 years, Walter "Lefty" Gaudette in 1993, her brother Robert Muir and sister Pauline Jeffries.  She leaves a son, Glenn Gaudette and his wife Nancy, of Holden, daughters Debra Griggs and her husband Richard, of Northbridge and Karen Gaudette of Framingham; 5 grandchildren, Zachary and Meghan Griggs, Logan, Connor and Abigail Gaudette; a brother Leonard Muir, in PA and sister-in-law, Alida Muir, in FL.

Diane was born April 1, 1945 in New Bedford, a daughter of Villard and Melanie (Fountaine) Muir.  She was a proud member of the first class to graduate from Bishop Stang High School.  After marrying Lefty, she moved to East Free Town where they raised their family and she was an active member of St. John Neumann Church.  She worked for the Department of Corrections until retiring in 2002 and previously for the Town of  Freetown.  Twelve years ago, Diane moved to Northbridge to be close to her children and grandchildren.

Diane liked to be active.  She participated in the prayer shawl ministry at St. Patrick's Church in Whitinsville, attended the Douglas Senior Center, enjoyed researching her genealogy and vacationing with her friends. This past October she was able to take a trip of a lifetime to Scotland with her friends. Diane was a dedicated mother and Memere.  More than anything, Diane enjoyed being an active part of her grandchildren's lives, whether attending sporting events, band performances or any other school activity.
