WHITINSVILLE --- Walter "Chic" Almasian, 90, died Sunday, May 22, in the Rose Monahan House, Worcester. He is survived by two sisters, Mary Almasian, with whom he lived, and Rosalie Schweinforth, of Colorado Springs, CO, several nieces and nephews, and his good friend, Eddie Blash, of North Oxford. He was predeceased by a brother, Archie Almasian, and a sister, Sarah Twomey.
Mr. Almasian was born in Whitinsville. August 26, 1925, a son of Bedros and Martha (Maboyan) Almasian, and was a lifelong resident. He was a 1943 graduate of Northbridge High School, and was a member of the 1942 football team.
A successful owner and trainer of race horses, he was well-known in harness racing circles throughout the Eastern United States.
Mr. Almasian was a United States Navy veteran of World War II.
He was a member of Soorp Asdvadzadzin Armenian Apostolic Church in Whitinsville, and was a longtime member of the United States and New Jersey Trotting Associations. He enjoyed gardening and working in his yard.

Mr. Almasian's Funeral Service will be held at 11 AM, Wednesday, May 25, in the Armenian Apostolic Church, followed by burial in Pine Grove Cemetery. Calling Hours will be 6-8 PM, Tuesday, May 24, in the Carr Funeral Home, 24 Hill Street, Whitinsville.
