Manchaug—William “Bill” Lavallee, 80, died Friday, January 20, surrounded by his loving family, in the Milford Regional Medical Center after a period of declining health.  In addition to  his wife of 59 years, Gloria (Jacques) Lavallee, he leaves a son Joseph Lavallee and his girlfriend Pat, of Grafton; 2 daughters, Pamela and her husband David Lambert, of Sutton, Trudy and her husband Stephen Nartowt, of Douglas; a brother Arthur and his wife Myrna, of Springfield, a brother Frank and his wife Mary and sister Shirley and her husband Kenton Zeiger, all in Indiana;  9 grandchildren: Joey, Brett, Kandy, Corey, Lindsay, Kyle, Shane, Jessica, Joseph and 7 great grandchildren.  Bill was predeceased by his son Robert, in 1980 and brother John, in 2005.

A son of Arthur and Mary (Kurtyka) Lavallee, Bill was born December 6, 1936 in Douglas where he grew up and attended school.   He worked for a number of years at the Whitin Machine Works, in the machine shop, prior to starting a long career truck driving for area trucking companies; he also worked for the Averka Tree Company in Worcester and as a parking attendant at St. Vincent’s Hospital for many years.  He was a man of many hats.  He had lived in Manchaug for 58 years.

He enjoyed playing golf, and was a former member of the Whitinsville Golf Club.  Bill played pitch in leagues  at the Sokol Hall and the Sutton Senior Center.  He loved watching old Westerns and was a big Red Sox and Green Bay Packers fan.

The Lavallee family would like to thank the Milford Regional Medical Center ICU, especially Bill’s ICU nurse, Lisa, for the exceptional care he received there.

Calling Hours are Wednesday, January 25, from 10-Noon.  Burial in New Howard Cemetery, Sutton, will follow Calling Hours.
